Chasing Dreams

————-

‘Jordan, born in Bradford, England, discovered a passion for travel at a young age. Inspired by a trip to Australia, he embarked on adventures across 20 countries, ultimately settling in Sydney. Through his YouTube channel and social media, he shares his outdoor explorations and encourages others to embrace their dreams. With a focus on lesser-known destinations and a commitment to authenticity, Jordan aims to inspire those unable to travel to seek joy in their own lives.’

Background

————-

I was born in a small city called Bradford, located in West Yorkshire in England. I had a great life growing up, I was able to travel Australia for 4 weeks when I was 13 and this changed my outlook on life. From that moment on I knew I wanted to travel the world, experience new cultures, food and experiences.

With the ultimate aim to Live in Australia. I have managed to visit more than 20 countries in my time travelling.  Fast forward to 2020 I made plans to travel Asia and finish in Australia this is when I purchased my first mirrorless camera and sharing my outdoor activities with people on my Instagram and YouTube.

For those learning about you for the first time, can you please share a little about your current outdoor passion?

————-

My passion is for exploring anywhere and any activity outdoors, especially places that are off the beaten track! I want to share these experience with people who may not have the opportunity to explore the places I find. I also want to ignite a passion within others so they can seek out new experiances and share them with the world.

As you are presently working and living in Australia, how are you finding the experience so far? And what’s your favourite location in Australia?

————-

I am now fortunate enough to live what was once my dream. I can now call Sydney, Australia my home. This is where I now live and work. My favourite location so far in Australia is located in South Australia.

The Flinders Ranges, Razorback lookout, is an amazing view. It really is something out of a movie. I was fortunate enough to be here without any other person, vehicle or even animal in sight. It has to be seen to understand the feelings I am trying to explain.

What inspired you to start your YouTube channel, and how did the pandemic influence your decision to share your travel experiences?

————-

I started the YouTube channel with an aim to share my planned Asia travelling experience.

The pandemic changed these plans but putting them on hold initially. Once travel was possible again, I wanted to get to Australia then re-assess the next travel plans. Since arriving in Australia, I have not managed to travel Asia, however, I have managed to travel a lot of Australia. Having driven across the continent twice in a 10000+km road trip.

You mentioned wanting to help people experience travel through your perspective. Can you elaborate on how you hope to achieve that?

————-

My main goal is to try and share this on social media, I always invite people to share places they would like me to visit, or activities they want me to try so I can try and share these the best I can.

You mentioned feeling nervous about starting your channel. How do you push past that nervousness to create content?

————-

I am a person who just likes to try things, if I say I want to try something I will normally do it. Yes, this can be challenging but I would rather try something then regret not doing anything at all. Everyone makes mistakes, but it’s better to make the mistake trying something than making the mistake of not trying something!

You’ve thought about both the pros and cons of starting your channel. What are some of the “terrible ideas” you’ve considered, and how do you counteract those thoughts with positive ones?

————-

I don’t think I have had any terrible ideas, I have done things that have gone wrong, or I have changed my ideas/plans at times. If I or others don’t get hurt, I like to think it is a positive experience and I would likely do something similar again but with more knowledge.

What are some of the lesser-known destinations you've discovered, and why do you think they deserve more attention?

————-

The southeast of Lombok (Indonesia), the people there were so friendly, the food was great and not a single other backpacker insight. But it was also a surreal experience with people taking photographs of us on the motorbike with our backpacks.

I am still unsure why this was, but it was so fun riding on dirt roads to somewhere you would never know existed to find a amazing lookouts and watching the fishermen going out on their Jukung (fishing boats)

You mentioned going all in when you get excited about something. Can you share a specific moment in your journey where this mentality helped you?

————-

Buying a go pro and buying a MacBook with some editing software. I like to think I am thrifty when it comes to travelling, I invested into something that was not cheap, and the funds could have been spent on a trip to anywhere in the world. I decided if I spent the money I would learn how to capture my experiences and edit them. I was all in because I did not want to waste the money.

What are your essential items for outdoor adventures? How do you prepare for different types of environments?

————-

My pillow goes everywhere, I take it from my bed when I leave and ensure I can use it in the rooftop tent. I have a very simple preparation method, which may be result in being unprepared in some people’s opinion.

I always have water and food for the days I will be outdoor (simple food requiring minimal cooking), I have a quick 10 min google session. Come to the conclusion if it will be warm or cold.

And take clothing I feel will keep me warm or cool. I also always 1 set of spare/emergency shorts for the car ride home (who wants to be driving in wet shorts). I always go with minimal equipment and I have survived so far.

What are your goals for your channel in the coming months? Are there any specific themes or series you’re excited about exploring?

————-

2025 will be the new start for me. I do a few videos in mind but they are slightly out of my niche. For example, I need to create a new home office, upgrade my now very old macbook. These may become the part of the channel as I work on a new offroad camping series. But at this stage I am still brainstorming ideas while I enjoy the Christmas celebrations and weather in Australia.

How do you envision your channel making a difference in the lives of those who may not be able to travel?

————-

If I can get one person to do something similar to me, even if it is as simple as moving to their dream place (this does not need to be across the world like I did, perhaps another example of me going all in). If this makes them happier in life, I know my channel is doing what I planned. From here I hope to help more and more people.

Words of Wisdom

————-

Allways be the best you can, do something that makes you happy and not just others. Others will not be around forever, we may not like that thought but it is an unfortunate fact of life.
